The Amethyst Gem is a very-rare mineral that can only be crafted after having found an Amethyst geode.
It allows the player to make the Amethyst Armor.

The crafting recipe is consisted of 1 diamond and 8 amethyst shards. Each craft will give you 1 amethyst gem.
